April Athlete of the Month -  Mandy Lewis

Our April Athlete of the Month is Mandy Lewis, and we are thrilled to recognize everything about Mandy that has led to incredible success in her training program with us. Mandy has been training with us for just over a year, and we are continually impressed by her commitment to her training program, her focus in every session, and the impact it has on her daily life.

Mandy’s commitment to her health and fitness isn’t just evident in the gym; it's also clear when she shares her goals outside of the gym and the success she achieves. Last summer, Mandy bicycled in the Trek Across Maine, a 3-day, 180-mile ride to support the American Lung Association. Additionally, since joining the WILCOX community last year, Mandy has completed hiking New Hampshire’s 48 4,000-foot mountains. Among these hikes, one of the longest was across Bond’s Traverse, a 20-mile hike that traverses 5 peaks with 5,000 feet of elevation gain, which she completed in a single day! Remarkable! 
As Mandy looks to her goals for 2024, she has signed up for her first marathon in 7 years and is already noticing the benefits of her training program as she begins her training. When I asked about her upcoming marathon, she shared, “My half marathon training has been going so much better than it has before, even though I was 7 years younger the last time I ran one.”

Mandy’s focus in her training program has led to increased body awareness, decreased risk of injury, and the strength and endurance to tackle anything she puts her mind to. She has recognized how being a great runner isn’t just about cardiovascular training. It’s also about training the body to move more efficiently, with greater balance of strength throughout.

​Learning how Mandy’s training is helping her feel younger than she was when she last trained for a marathon is a testament to the incredible outcome that her training has brought her.
