TTT Semi- Professional Basketball League

Nick and Luke      vs      Mike and Katie
The Ultimate Showdown

Mike was supposed to lead a normal (kick everyone’s booty) TTT workout today, but what started out with a basketball warm-up turned into the entire TTT session.

After a few rounds of knock- out with Luke and Mike fighting to the finish every time, the group decided it was time for a 2 v 2 game to prove who was really the better baller.

Nick and Luke took on Mike and Katie for three back to back basketball games. The games were intense, cut throat, and the score went back and forth, proving that both teams were quite talented (despite some player’s lack of experience, and others being out of the game for decades).

The Youngstahs won the first game 7-5, then The Old Geezers battled it out to win the second two games, declaring them the champions of the TTT Basketball League.

When we interviewed the game “MVP” Katie at the end of the game, all she had to say about the experience was, “I spent a lot of time confused, and on the ground.”

Katie’s teammate, Mike, reassured us that most players are hardest on themselves, and bragged to  us that, “Katie got the game winning shots, both games. Although a lot of misses and fouls took place during the game, her amazing performance at the end was what mattered most. I really hope you guys got her winning shot on camera...I want to remember that moment.” (Yes, Mike, we did....here it is, folks)
Picture

Nick went under the radar throughout the games, as he lived up to his nickname and proved to be a silent but deadly player. When asked how the game went, Nick told us, “I’m just happy nobody died.”

(That's the spirit!)

Picture

Mike got a little salty with some of Luke’s moves, saying “Luke had a lot of cheap backboard shots,” but this clearly didn't bother Luke, as he felt confident about his performance in the game and admitted that, “today was the best TTT ever!”

Both teams showed true sportsmanship at the end, all high-fiving and saying, "good game."

Great job to both teams!

TTT Workout 6/20/18 (Trainers Training Trainers)

Mike was the leader of Wednesday’s TTT workout.

He really encouraged the trainers to push
their limits and get stronger!

After completing a short warm- up circuit, the team focused on core and leg exercises.

Through the 50 minute session, the team worked on various progressions with the help of their coach.

They went through two types of circuits that allowed for progressions to be easily coached, regardless of the client’s previous experience level.

The trainers wrapped the workout up with a fun obstacle course challenge!

The group really worked on opening their minds to expanding the way we warm up in a 50 minute group session as well as working to reach their full potential and strive to be the best they can be.

It was amazing to watch everyone encourage each other and catch a few smiles enduring the pain!

The group did a great job, and the trainer, Mike, was very flexible with meeting each individual’s needs.

Everyone is looking for a quick fix and we don’t have one…

Recently we were approached by the news to do a story on ‘Getting fit for Summer.’  Our first thought was YAHOO - 15 minutes of fame, sign us up quickly followed by - errrrrr - summer is just a few days away - we don’t sell quick fixes.
Picture

There are no quick fixes in terms of sustained health and fitness.

It is about doing the work day in and day out.  Making a habit. Sticking to it. Commitment.

How about get fit for summer 2019?  No bueno.

What we were able to talk about in our segment is the 5 habits you can commit to for lasting health and fitness.

These habits might not make you shed 20 pounds in as many days but they WILL have a massive positive impact on your health in the long run.

The habits we are talking about are:
  1. Breakfast
  2. Consistency
  3. Whole foods
  4. Water
  5. Getting active

(If these habits are new to you, download our Habits for Massive Impact PDF here to learn more - why the habits are important, strategies on how to implement them in your daily life, all the juicy details!)
Picture
Super basic, right?  BUT if you are not already committed to these habits, something as simple as drinking water can have a dramatic impact on your life - in just one or two days.
HALLELUJAH!  We do have a quick fix!  Drink more water! If you are not already drinking the recommended ½ your body weight in fluid ounces daily you will notice at least one of these incredible positive impacts almost instantly:

  • Increased energy levels
  • Less hunger cues
  • Improved quality of your skin
  • Less pain in your joint
Now challenge #2 - how to get fit for summer in 90 seconds.
At this point I tapped out and passed the mic to my husband, Mike with a ‘good luck buddy.’

Mike took this in stride and came up with 3 things to focus on in terms of physical activity.

  1. Mobility
  2. Cardiovascular conditioning
  3. Strength

Mobility is incredibly important and we focus a lot on mobility in our training sessions because it allows you to move freely and gracefully doing all things in life without compensation.

Cardiovascular conditioning helps keep your heart strong and healthy.

And finally, strength so that you can live daily life to the fullest.
There you have it - how to get fit, live healthy, and sustain it for a lifetime in 3 minutes.  BOOM. Did we say we didn’t have a quick fix?

You can watch our segment here:

In all seriousness, it doesn't have to be super complicated to get in to good shape and live a healthy lifestyle but it does take consistency and commitment.

Happy Training!

Paige & Mike Wilcox

#excitingnews  #postedwithlovefrommikeandpaige #wearecomingforyoubrunswick

We hope that it comes through in our social media feeds, but if you can’t tell already, we are incredibly driven to help positively impact our community.  We truly believe that when people commit to healthy living the world becomes a better place to live.

We believe that Wilcox Wellness & Fitness is much bigger than us.  It is all of you, it is all of the trainers, it is the charitable organizations that we support, and it is our community.

Over the last year, Mike and I have been hard at work creating a franchise agreement and building out our operations manual so that the work that we do here in Bangor can be replicated in more communities to create more positive and lasting impact.

On Wednesday last week we signed on our first franchisee and made the commitment to open a second Wilcox Wellness & Fitness location in Brunswick, Maine.

We are beyond excited to get to work on this exciting project to impact more lives.

We would like to stress that nothing is changing for you in Bangor.  Mike and I will still be here to support you. This news just means Wilcox Wellness & Fitness is going to continue to get stronger so that we can serve you even better.

Thank you for being our community and for sharing with us the stories of how Wilcox Wellness & Fitness has impacted your lives.  Your stories have inspired us to take this next step with our business.

Help us spread the word!  Tell your Brunswick friends that great things are coming!

Much Love,

Paige & Mike Wilcox

You may notice our clients check into Wilcox Wellness & Fitness on the regular. They don’t do it just to let everyone know they were here, they do it because every time they check in, we donate money to support Sarah’s House.

We are so proud to support this great organization. Sarah’s House of Maine is a place of hope and healing for people receiving cancer treatments. They have saved patients over 550,000 miles of travel to and from treatments in just 3 and a half years.

To date, we have donated just over $500. We are looking to grow this program and donate at least $100 on a monthly basis.

Thanks to all of our clients for your check ins and thank you to Sarah’s House for the great work that you do. ❤️
