When to Rest & When to Push

In your training sessions, knowing when to rest, and when to push is tricky.  When you find the right balance, you will take your training sessions to the next level and accelerate your results.  This session was designed for each person to learn their body better to determine the best time to push through or take a break to regroup and refocus. 
 
The goal was to work quickly causing fatigue, but keep the integrity of strength throughout the body.  Once the body fatigued, it was up to the person to learn to push through or take rest.
 
The goal of our trainer team at Wilcox Wellness & Fitness is to design workouts that constantly challenge participants at a level they can effectively work at and provide guidance to help correct technique or suggest rest.  Take the time to learn your body and take your training sessions to the next level.  The trainer team at Wilcox Wellness & Fitness is here to help you every step along your training journey and will help you know when to push and when to rest.

The Fine Print:
Limit one guest per session.  Limit two free sessions per guest.  Please provide your trainer with a 48 hour notice so they can plan for your guest.

The Importance of Proper Form

Weekly our trainers work on breaking down each movement inch by inch to ensure that our clients are using the best form & technique. This focus on form helps our clients make the most out of every rep of every exercise. Workout smarter, not harder! Happy Training!
​At Wilcox Wellness & Fitness, we place a huge focus on form. So huge that our trainer team dedicates an hour every week to work with each other to break down each movement inch by inch to ensure that you, our clients are using the best form and technique. This is will always allow you to progress more quickly without risk of injury. We want to help you work smarter rather than one hundred miles per hour by using the proper form and technique for every rep of every exercise. You may find that we take the time to slow you down to help you with your technique. We would rather have you do something super slow with little or no weight than to do it with bad form with heavy weight this, in the long run is going to help you progress more quickly.

Peak Performance System - January '16 Release

​We are excited to announce the launch of our new release of the Peak Performance System. This system was developed to help our clients maximize their investment in healthy living, reach their goals more quickly, and make the most out of time with the trainer. We have several ‘reformer’ sessions on the calendar this week that are free to all clients. Be sure to get in and take advantage of this extra training opportunity. 
Peak Performance System

At Wilcox Wellness & Fitness, we have developed a program we call the Peak Performance System.  This Peak Performance System is one of the key success factors to help you reach your goals and make the most of the time with your trainer at Wilcox Wellness & Fitness.   The exercises in this system are switched up quarterly to ____.  Commitment to this system will ensure your success in our training program.
 
This system includes Foam Rolling & a Dynamic Warmup that is performed before the workout and Corrective / Cool Down Exercises done after the workout.
 
This system is designed to help you reach your goals more quickly by:
  • Getting you mentally and physically prepared for your workout.
  • Reducing the risk of injury
  • Allowing you to workout harder and more effectively, making the most out of your training sessions.
  • Breaking up tight tissue - allowing your body to move more freely which gives you a greater range of motion and reduces the risk of injury.
  • Moving your body in many different planes, allowing you to perform at your very best.
  • Helping you gain mobility & flexibility – so you can move better in your daily life

Metabolic Functional Circuit

Here is a snippet of the Metabolic Functional Circuit Katie put the trainers through today for the trainer development session. The goal of the metabolic functional circuit was to keep the heart rate high while building a foundation of exercises to prepare for everyday movements – ex: rotating while shoveling snow. This style of metabolic functional training boosts the metabolism for hours after leaving the gym. Thanks for a great workout Katie!
