Are you a believer in the power of visualization?
I am! 100%! And if you believe in the power of visualization, you are in good company. Muhammad Ali said, “If my mind can conceive it and my heart can believe it – then I can achieve it.” Forming a detailed picture in your mind that plays like a movie of seeing yourself achieve a goal can be super-effective in achieving that goal. There’s actual scientific research that shows it can help us reach financial aims, lower stress, and find help in relationships. Studies have found that brain activity from thinking about some activities resembles what happens when people actually do those activities. We still have to work for what we want. But when the thoughts we tell ourselves align with our actions, then we’re truly super-charged. Performers and athletes know this trick. They Imagine a situation as fully as possible in advance, using all their senses. What will it feel like when they step onto the court, for example? What will the floor look like, the air smell like? Is the crowd cheering or a band playing?
Some people find that writing it down helps, too.
I like saying a simple affirmation – a statement that begins with “I” that’s followed by something I believe or hope to manifest. For example, I might say, “I take actions to strengthen my body and mind,” or “I have love and light in my life.” These kinds of visualizations will begin to affect your behavior if they’re detailed enough. The mind-body connection is mysterious and powerful. Start putting it to work! If you need some help “seeing” your fitness goals and bringing them to life, let us know. <3 Paige WANT MORE OF THIS? Have you ever noticed how awesome you feel after you go for a walk… do some yoga… or even get up off the couch to tackle some chores? There are so many reasons for this “feel good” effect that extends far beyond the mood-boosting hormones that get released when you get some exercise.

You might have heard that stress kills.
Did you know it can also make you overweight? True fact. When we’re stressed, our bodies release the hormone cortisol. It’s part of the “fight or flight” reaction that served a super-important function in caveman times when our ancestors encountered, say, a saber-tooth tiger. But it can be deadly in our modern world, leading to sugar cravings and overeating – which cause us to be overweight and want more sugar. Which causes more stress. Vicious circle, indeed. Stress also causes a lot of people to indulge in “comfort foods,” which tend to be high-fat, high-sodium, and high-sugar. How many times have you come home from a hard day and cracked open a bag of potato chips or polished off a pizza? It happens.
So, learn to manage your stress by exercising, improving sleep, drinking less alcohol, and eating a healthy diet. Try taking a walk, meditation, mindfulness, or getting lost in a good book or music.
When you feel your body tensing up, notice it, and deliberately calm down with three deep breaths. Smile, even a fake one. It actually does lead our brains to smiling and meaning it. Similarly, “fake laughing” produces the same stress-fighting physical reaction that “real” laughter does. It’s true! If you’ve been doing all the right things and your body isn’t changing, you know where you should be looking – into your ability to manage stress. Let me know if this happens to sound familiar. <3 Paige WANT MORE OF THIS? Be sure to connect with us on Social Media. When we make the decision to step into our personal next level, it will not come without fear and emotion.
We are always meant for growth, yet most people remain stagnant. Fear holds us back in ways we can't even see. If you want to grow and evolve, here are 5 things you can do: 1. Stop questioning yourself - this can be a variety of ways from what we're capable of to our expertise to whether or not we're even good enough to deserve the success we desire. Lack of belief will always hold us back. Learn to BELIEVE. 2. Learn what's possible - you MUST uncover possibilities you didn't know existed to step into your next-level self. Surrounding yourself with others who’ve done what you want to do is a great first step. 3. Embrace failure - Seek out failure, knowing it’s a step toward learning and evolving. Don’t interpret failure as a negative thing when it does happen, rather see failures as a lesson. 4. Get clear on your WHY - and this reason WHY we want what we say we want must be bigger than ourselves. Only dreams of great impact are going to motivate you in the toughest times. 5. Decide not to settle - if you hope to achieve greatness in your business, you have to want it more than anything and more than everyone else in your competitive space. Then, you have to take action every day that aligns with that desire.
If this resonates with you, leave a heart in the comments. ❤️

We can't wait to connect with you and support you along your journey with healthy living! What were your plans for 2020? We were going to open up another franchise location. We had a weekly, quarterly, and monthly 10-step plan to make this happen. We had gotten through the preliminary planning work for the first quarter, had plugged ourselves into the franchise industry community, and then our world changed completely on March 13th. COVID-19 rocked our world. We went from planning for a big dream to scrambling during a global health crisis. And when I say SCRAMBLING… I mean SCRAMBLING. Our family was in Costa Rica - first we needed to figure out how to get home. We are a business that takes pride in having a protocol and a plan for EVERYTHING. Quickly, we realized we didn’t have a plan for ANYTHING. We were building the plan as we were flying it. Our initial quick fix was a ‘follow-along / pre-recorded’ workout series on our website. And I will tell you… it was not good. We were scrambling. We are known for coaching - that workout series did nothing to provide the coaching that our clients deserve. So we decided to give it another pivot to coach our sessions over Zoom. An online training program is something that Mike and I have dreamed about building into our business for a long time. But… every time we sat down to figure out how to make it work, all we could come up with was all of the reasons that it wouldn’t work. This time - it had to work because there were no other options. Sooo… instead of opening a WILCOX Franchise location in another community, this year we are focusing on serving our clients and providing as much value as possible while building out a new ONLINE Training Program.
Nobody could predict what would happen in 2020, but I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Things don’t happen to us, they happen for us, and I am thankful for the journey. Something tells me that you needed to hear that. I know that I could use the reminder on the DAILY. This year has been so weird… our family has made the decision to keep our kids home - so… Mike and I are taking turns working every other day and taking care of our 2 & 6-year-old. So - this means either he is working or I am working AND he is with the kids or I am with the kids. This hasn’t left a lot of time for self-care. We are learning a new way. Remember those workout videos I posted early on in the pandemic where I was trying to workout and it was chaos? Brooklyn (our 2-year-old) climbing on my back, Hazen throwing popcorn like confetti, etc… That was cute for a minute but also super frustrating. So real talk - my self-care these days doesn’t look like long soaks in an Epsom salt tub (we all know how that would turn out… hint: my kids LOVE tubs!) These days I am taking care of myself by:
So basic… and almost embarrassing to admit from someone whose career is all about helping others live their best life. But there are seasons in life… and this is my season. We can't wait to connect with you and support you along your journey with healthy living! How do you define success? We’ve always been told that success is about having a goal and reaching it. But here’s the deal about goals. It’s good to have them. And it’s good to pursue them. But merely reaching the goal isn’t really the point. It’s the steps we take along the way that matter in the long-term. We have got to enjoy those parts of the process in order to make lasting change. I’ll say that again - we have to learn to enjoy the process. Here’s an example. Let’s say you want to lose 20 pounds by a certain time - a trip, a reunion, your sister’s wedding day... Well, you can starve yourself and do ridiculous amounts of cardio and, sure, you’ll probably shed the weight. But after the photos are taken, will it have been worth all the torture? What if, instead, you set the same goal, but decided to follow a reasonable, sustainable plan that would encourage happy, healthy exercise and eating habits? And what if you lost, say, 18 pounds by the wedding? Could you be happy with that? Of course! In fact, you would have enjoyed your daily life more, including the establishment of those good habits. You’d have been a better friend to your sister leading up to her big day. And you could enjoy a slice of cake and still be on your way to losing those remaining 2 pounds, if you wanted. Because, most importantly, you’d love your new habits and feel encouraged to continue them. Change is good! Embrace the process in a truly positive way. If you need some help with this, let us know. We are so passionate about helping people live their very best life through health and fitness and we would love to support you along your journey. Lots of love, Paige WANT MORE OF THIS? We can't wait to connect with you and support you along your journey with healthy living! Let’s talk about hunger for a moment… Hunger is a feeling of discomfort caused by lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat. The trouble is - sometimes if we don’t ‘sit with hunger’ long enough - we can miss important cues that our bodies are trying to tell us. Letting yourself get a little hungry on occasion can help you find the happy medium of being just hungry enough -- staying with the feeling instead of letting it drive us to the refrigerator right away -- and ultimately making more mindful choices about what we eat. · Sometimes a glass of water is all we need. · Sometimes we’re just stressed when we tell ourselves we’re hungry. · Sometimes – admit it – we’re just bored and grab something to eat reflexively. Fortunately, most of us don’t really know what true hunger is, when the body is crying out for nutrients and energy. We have access to food all of the time, unlike many people in the world. While we don't recommend that you get to the point of ravenous for food, if you can learn to experiment with hunger levels, the self-knowledge you gain can help you sustain healthy eating habits and manage your weight. Give it a try the next time you think you’re getting hungry! WANT MORE OF THIS? Be sure to connect with us on Social Media.
