I DON’T KNOW WHO NEEDS TO HEAR THIS BUT… just because you can do something doesn’t mean you have to or you should.
A while back, I used to put the needs of my business, my friends and my family ahead of my own. I would skip training sessions and skip meals and I was basically running myself ragged meaning I didn’t have anything left in the tank for myself. This was around the time that I was really struggling to manage my hashimotos and I was absolutely EXHAUSTED. Dog tired. I didn’t feel like myself. And - I really had lost the joy from my life but still, I would push it at work and pour it into everyone else. Then I finally realized that I wasn’t good for ANYONE including my family and my business. I learned that if I wasn’t being good to myself, I really couldn’t be good for anyone or anything else. This one shift helped change my life and the few key non-negotiables for me really aren’t that difficult to manage. 1 - I prioritize my sleep - I make sure that I get at least 7 hours 2 - I prioritize my training sessions - I train at least 3x weekly 3 - I prioritize my nutrition - I meal plan to ensure I’m well nourished 4 - I stay hydrated And… I feel so much better. I am a better mom, a better wife, a better leader, and a better business owner. What’s ONE THING you can do (and feel like you “should” do), that you can let go of? Book Recommendation: I highly recommend this book if you are interested in having a more thorough understanding of how your body works. This book gets into the 6 pillars of the Metabolic Ecosystem and how to adjust each pillar to fit your lifestyle.
Spoiler Alert: everything that we coach inside Wilcox Wellness & Fitness is very much in alignment with the teaching in this book. Are you ready for my BEST time-saving tip for staying on track with health and fitness?
You probably could guess it - because I talk about it a lot. It is meal planning and meal prepping. And meal planning and meal prepping is the thing that is going to set you up for success. Why? Because it SAVES TIME … and it saves BRAIN SPACE! Thinking about meal planning ONCE a week is a lot easier than thinking about it every night at dinnertime or scrounging for lunch or being on your heels for breakfast. It’s amazing how much easier your weeks run when you can grab your already prepped breakfast and lunch when you are running out the door. And then you just don't need to think about it. It’s the little actions you do EVERY day that make the biggest impact. What’s one thing that you do to 1) save time and 2) stay on track? PS: if you need help getting on track with meal planning and meal prepping - check out our Summer Meal Plan. (Send us a message and we will send you the link - it's amazing!) What you need to know if you skip a training session… So you skipped a training session...or two...or took a week-long break while vacationing. Not the end of the world, right? BUT here's the snag: it can spiral into a pattern of missed workouts, leading to a dip in your fitness level, strength, and daily energy. Instead of pushing the pause button on your workouts. TRY THIS: 👉 Make it a LIFESTYLE - aim to be intentionally active most days, even if it's just for a few minutes. 👉 Make it a non-negotiable part of your day. Whether it's a post-dinner stroll, a few squats and push-ups before your shower, or some morning sun salutations - make it happen! By turning movement into a lifestyle, you safeguard your fitness and pave the way for a lifetime of healthy habits. Did you work out on your last vacation? Let me know below… Feeling the stress? We've got you covered! These simple techniques that you can use on a daily basis will help you manage your stress and protect your peace. What would you add to this list?
How I “do” moderation …
First: I’m sharing things because “moderation” is a big buzzword these days when it comes to health & fitness, but it’s hard to pinpoint what it actually means. It’s confusing, because (at least on my social media feed) it seems to involve someone scarfing down thousands of empty (sugary, high-fat) calories all at once. Which... to me, DOESN’T seem very moderate at all! For me, moderation means:
Can I make a confession? I have so much gratitude for the work that we as a team get to do. We absolutely love the work that we do, the people we work with, and the community that we support. I am so very thankful to be in a business where we can help people live their very best life.
