Charitable Giving Update

3/3/2021

Happy March!

I just wanted to post an update on some of our ongoing charitable giving efforts. We are committed to developing programs to support our community and we believe that TOGETHER we do more good.

We currently have 2 charitable giving programs that occur on a monthly basis:

  1. Our Greatest Gift Referral Program where we donate $10 to a local charitable organization for each referral you send us.
  2. Our not-so-talked-about Check-Ins for Charity Program where we donate to Sarah's House every time you check-in on Facebook.

I explain everything in this little video I recorded for you:

Here is the down and dirty if you prefer to read rather than listen:

Greatest Gift Referral Program:

The Greatest Gift Referral Program is designed to help you share the gift of health and fitness with the people you care about most. This program gives your people access to 2 weeks of UNLIMITED group personal training with us (either in person or ONLINE - so they can join from anywhere in the world) plus a lot of coaching extras from us - a 1-on-1 Success Session, a personalized program workbook, and tons of support from our team.

For every referral that signs up for a success session, we:
  1. Donate $10 in your name to a local charitable organization - right now we are raising money for a backpack program to give kids access to school supplies.
  2. Enter you in a drawing to win a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.

CONGRATULATIONS - Heidi Storm - you are the winner of February 2021 drawing! Thank you for all of your referrals!

Check-Ins For Charity Program:

Every time you 'check-in' to Wilcox Wellness & Fitness on Facebook, we donate money ($0.40 for each check-in) to Sarah's House, which is a place for cancer patients and their caregivers who live outside Bangor to stay while they are receiving treatment.

Our Check-Ins for Charity Program accomplishes 3 goals:
  1. It helps hold you accountable to attending your weekly training sessions.
  2. It helps more people become aware of our training program so that they can commit to healthy living.
  3. It provides much needed and appreciated donations to Sarah's House.

We have been running this Check-Ins for Charity Program for a few years now and we have donated $1,882 to date.

We donated $21.20 for the month of February and we would LOVE to see this donation closer to $100 per month, so please - check-in and let people know about your training experience!

We are so thankful for you and our ability to do more good in our local community. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions at all.

Lots of love,
Paige

Healthy Living is a Lifestyle, Not a Resolution

3/2/2021

Research shows that 80% of people who set new year's resolutions abandon them by February.

DEVASTATING.

And that is why we encourage you to commit to healthy habits that you can sustain for a lifetime vs any quick fix.

How many times have you felt by this point in a new year that it was all going to be a failure – that, since you already had dropped a resolution or even forgot to make one, that you were doomed to have another year of unmet healthy living aspirations?

Well, I’m here to keep you from going down that rabbit hole again. You can still have your best year yet. You just have to get your mind wrapped around it.
Picture
  1. Now is the perfect time to start. Yesterday’s gone, and tomorrow isn’t promised – so focus on what you can do today to make better choices and take the right actions.
  2. Make a plan and tell one or two other people about it. Accountability is a powerful motivator.
  3. Focus on a process you’ll enjoy, not the goals you’re laboring toward. CELEBRATE your consistency.
  4. Make a list of why you want to commit to healthy living – as long or as short a list as you like – and keep it handy for those times when you’re discouraged.
  5. Look at the future as endless opportunities to live a better life, not a litany of chores and resolutions.

Healthy living is a lifestyle, not a resolution. It’s a commitment to yourself, and that shouldn’t change because of the calendar.

You got this!

Lots of love,
Paige

You Do Have Enough Time to Take Care of Your Health

2/26/2021

TIME is the number 1 obstacle most for most people for not exercising and committing to healthy living.

Yep. More than cost or nervousness or lack of experience, people say they just don’t have the time to take care of their bodies.

These are often the same people who will tell you about the latest Netflix series they binge-watched. Not that there’s anything wrong with enjoying TV.

But - the obstacle is not TIME.

The true obstacle is a lack of priorities.

Until you realize how much precious time you waste on less important “priorities,” you’ll keep insisting you’re just too busy to exercise regularly. And, as the saying goes, “If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.”
Picture
Try this. A week has 168 hours. Now, make a list of how you spend your time each week on the following:
  • Work
  • Sleep
  • Commute
  • Errands
  • Family time
  • Leisure activity

Total that up and subtract it from the 168 hours.

NOW - multiply 3 x 45-minute training sessions (the sweet spot for getting great results in our training program) and divide that number by 168. This is the % of your week you would spend on your fitness training with us to get incredible results...

Still, think you don’t have time? I’m curious, so let me know!

2/22/2021

Raise your hand if you are a CHOCOLATE lover! We are so excited to share Mike's favorite treat with you today. These are Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for your LEGIT Chocolate Cravings.

They are so good and so easy to make! Hope you love them!
OH So Good Healthy Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

....For legit chocolate cravings

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/3 c. virgin coconut oil
  • 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp. maple syrup

PEANUT BUTTER FILLING
  • 2 tbsp. virgin coconut oil
  • 1/2 c. peanut butter (made from 100 percent peanuts)
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. fine sea salt

DIRECTIONS
  1. Line a mini muffin pan with 12 mini paper muffin cups.
  2. To make the chocolate: In a small bowl, microwave the coconut oil for 30 seconds, or just until melted. Stir in the cocoa powder and maple syrup.
  3. Place 1 teaspoon of the chocolate in each muffin cup to fill the bottom. Place the muffin tin in the freezer until the chocolate solidifies, about 5 minutes.
  4. To make the peanut butter filling: In a small bowl, microwave the coconut oil for 30 seconds, or just until melted. Use a fork to stir in the peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt.
  5. Spoon about a tablespoon of peanut butter filling on top of the chocolate. Then spoon another teaspoon of chocolate on top of the peanut butter filling to fill the cups (if the chocolate begins to harden, microwave it for 10 seconds). Place peanut butter cups in the freezer until solid, about 30 minutes.
  6. Store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. Remove from the freezer 15 minutes prior to serving.

*this is the actual recipe from Run Fast Eat Slow. NOTE: I don't make the peanut butter filling - I just put standard peanut butter in the middle.

Lots of love,
Paige

Happy Valentines Day!

2/14/2021

Happy Valentines Day!

To me, Valentine's Day isn't just a day to express love for a significant other, but it’s also a day to express admiration and appreciation for other incredible people in our lives. ✨

And that’s YOU!

Whether you’re currently working with us, you’ve worked with us in the past, or working with us is simply on your radar but you haven’t taken the first step yet, we want you to know that we APPRECIATE you so very much. 🙏

Time is our most precious gift. ⏱

So, you might be spending a few hours a week coaching with our team or simply a few minutes a week reading our posts or emails...

Either way, I want you to know how much I value you and the time you give me.
Picture
I think it’s incredibly important to show appreciation.

We live in a world that’s becoming faster paced and less connected by the day.

Technology, social media, and our busy lives dictate what gets our energy and attention instead of the things that matter. 👫

So, in honor of Valentine’s Day, I’d love for you to join me in doing 3 things:

  1. Tell all of the important people in your life how much they matter to you and how much you appreciate them. 🌹
  2. Get clear on what really matters to you so you can make it a priority instead of getting lost in the chaos of life. 🔮
  3. Choose one person in your life that you know really needs to receive a supportive message of appreciation today and tag them in this post. 💎

I hope you have the most wonderful and fulfilling Valentine’s Day! Communicate with the people who matter most to you.

And again, thank you for sharing this space on your social media with us. ❤

Lots of love,
Paige

How Good Can It Get? Finding Fulfillment in Life

2/9/2021

Picture
Instead of thinking ‘how bad can it get,’ let's focus our thinking on ‘how good can it get.’

I have a confession. I want deep fulfillment in life.

I want a life of passion, excitement, close relationships, meaningful work, and a sense that I’m contributing to make the world a better place.

But several years ago, I realized I was just going through the motions – not really behaving as if I had a commitment to achieving deep fulfillment. I think I didn’t truly believe I could have it. Instead, I just did The Next Thing I Thought I Was Supposed To Do… one after another… hoping it would all get me somewhere.

That is when I left my corporate job and joined our business full-time.

Do you know what I mean? Have you ever felt like settling for some vague sense of “good enough” was holding you back from getting what you really want? It’s a powerful realization, and I hope everyone reaches it at some point in life. It can be a crucial step toward long-term satisfaction – with your health, your body, your work… anything.

So, right now, before the year gets away from you, take a few minutes to yourself. Think or meditate. Or maybe write in your journal.

Where do you want deep fulfillment? What will it take to get there? And are you doing what’s necessary?

If you’re open to sharing, I’d love to know what you come up with.

Lots of love,
Paige

2/8/2021

Picture
On the days that I am not feeling like meal prepping or cooking, I am always really thankful for my grocery staples. These are the things I try to keep on-hand so that I am always ready to prepare healthy meals and snacks.

(ProTip: Save this list for when you are in a pinch.)

Staples:
  • Low-salt canned beans, tuna, salmon, tomatoes, and marinara sauce
  • Whole grain or bean pastas, brown rice, couscous, and quinoa
  • Crushed tomatoes
  • Peanut butter
  • Bags or cans of beans
  • Healthy cooking oils and nonstick vegetable spray
  • Old-fashioned rolled oats
  • Balsamic vinegar and low-sodium soy sauce
  • Dried herbs and spices
  • Frozen vegetables and fruits packed without sauces, sugar, or added salt
  • Almonds, cashews, macadamias and other nuts pack healthy omega-3s, good fat, fiber, and protein

Fresh items:
  • Fruit - bananas, strawberries, raspberries, etc...
  • Cottage cheese - paired with berries, it’s a great breakfast option
  • Yogurt - It has calcium, vitamin D, lots of protein, and it goes with berries and other fruits
  • Broccoli, tomatoes, and more whole vegetables and fruits. Get all the colors you can!
  • Chicken
  • Grass-fed ground beef

I hope this helps make your life a little bit easier on your next trip to the store!
