Using a foam roller is a proven strategy to help you loosen up and feel better FAST. With a foam roller, you are able to give your muscles a little self-massage. And it’s backed by science to help you feel less stiff almost immediately. Scientists looked at several studies that explored self-myofascial release (the official term for what you’re doing when you use a foam roller), and they found that foam rolling had a BIG impact on increasing joint range of motion. While it definitely worked for both men and women, it seemed to have a slightly larger impact on women, according to the researchers.
