Take time to do the things that set your soul on fire. This past weekend I took the time to go horseback riding. Horses have been a passion of mine since I was a very little girl- really since I could ever remember. There is just something inside of me that is so lit up by being around these big animals. I saved my money, begged my parents, made friends with other ‘horse’ people, and happily cleaned out stalls to get into horseback riding lessons from the time I was 9 until 16. I stopped riding when I started college (you know to be all practical and stuff…) and didn’t pick it up. Here we are more than half my life later - riding again for the first time in 19 years. All of the smells, just being in the barn, brushing the horse - it was all magical. I found that there was a lot that I remembered and also a lot that I forgot but I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face. Riding, I was winded and I am confident my whole body is going to be sore for days - using muscles in a way that I haven’t used them in nearly 20 years. It feels so good to be back in the saddle and I am so happy that I made the time for it last weekend. I am going to find a way to fit this back into my life. Saying that here for some external accountability… So please, feel free to check in with me! What about you - what is the thing that sets your soul on fire?
